Dying for Christmas by Tammy Cohen ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Netgalley kindly gave me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Whilst having a quick coffee break from her Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve Jessica meets Dominic. They get talking and then she stupidly (in my opinion) agrees to go home with him. Dominic then keeps Jessica captive. He then gives her a gift for each of the twelve days of Christmas each more horrible than the last. Jessica fears that after she has received her last present on the twelfth day he will kill her but Jessica has a secret.....

Once I had got over the stupidity of the main character Jessica going home with a stranger that she had just met who had even admitted to following her, I was gripped. I was trying to figure out in my own mind how Jessica could possibly escape from Dominic. Jessica was a sweet but troubled character and Dominic was a sadistic and deluded. There was a few ways this book could have gone and I could not wait to read on. Then half way through this book it changes completely. I cannot tell you how gutted I was. It went from a book I could not wait to read to one I could not wait to finish. I am sure that some people will think that what the author did with this book was clever and you do not see it coming. For me this took what was a brilliant book down to a just okay book.
